How Nova handles your data with Firebase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, and GCP.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what data Nova collects, how we use it, and your choices. By using Nova, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Data We Collect
- Account Data: Name, email, authentication method (Google, Apple, or email/password).
- Birth Data (required for core features): Date of birth, time of birth, place of birth (coordinates), timezone, and location text for display.
- User Content: Hand photos (for palmistry), chat messages/questions, tarot selections, and compatibility inputs.
- Usage and Diagnostics: App interactions, device identifiers, crash/error logs (for debugging only).
- Subscription Data: Free/premium status and purchase metadata managed via RevenueCat.
- Advertising Data (free users only): AdMob identifier and ad interaction events.
How We Use Data
- Calculate natal charts, compatibility, and other astrology outputs.
- Generate AI content (horoscopes, chat responses, readings).
- Analyze hand photos for palmistry features.
- Provide and improve app functionality, performance, and security.
- Manage subscriptions, billing validation, and access control.
- Serve ads to free users and measure basic ad performance.
- Debug and prevent abuse or fraud.
Third-Party Services
We share data only as needed to run the service with trusted providers:
- Google Cloud Platform (hosting and storage)
- Firebase (authentication and analytics)
- OpenAI (AI content generation)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
- Google AdMob (ads for free users)
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
- Performance of a contract: providing the app and premium features.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, service improvement.
- Consent: optional analytics/ads where required by local law.
Data Security
- All traffic uses HTTPS/TLS.
- Authentication via Firebase with JWT tokens.
- Access controls and Firestore security rules limit who can access data.
- Secrets stored in Secret Manager; no hard-coded keys.
Data Retention
- Account data: kept until you request deletion or delete your account.
- Daily horoscopes cache: up to 90 days.
- Hand photos and user content: kept until you delete your account or request deletion.
- Error logs and diagnostics: up to 30 days.
Your Rights
You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data. Contact support@novaastral.com to submit requests. We process deletions within 30 days.
International Transfers
Data may be processed in the EU, UK, and the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
Nova is not directed to children under 16. Do not use the app if you are under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Ads and Tracking
Free users may see ads from AdMob. Identifiers and limited event data are used to deliver and measure ads. Premium subscribers do not receive ads.
AI Content
AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on AI outputs for medical, legal, financial, or psychological decisions.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be indicated by updating the date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
